NON-E2E Project(NON School Projects)
Dusk settles over the city of Chennai. The bustling streets of the metropolis are packed with lakhs of commuters. At this hour, their major challenge is maneuvering through rush hour traffic to get home to their hot meals.
But for many, the arrival of dusk brings with it challenges of a more basic variety. For this scion of society, a spot on the foot path becomes their home for the night. And going to sleep hungry is a 100% certainty.
On the evening of July 31st , the ladies of Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle 4 along with 14 Twinklers (some as young as four years) and volunteers, initiated the Robin Hood Project. Dozens of packed boxes of freshly prepared nutritious food were loaded into cars. We, the ladies of MMLC4, drove off in six different directions with one purpose – To feed the hungry.
The smiles we received when we gave fresh food to those foraging in the dumpster for their dinner, to those lying listlessly near open drains and to those who were too sick to feed themselves, was priceless. It was hugely satisfying to be able to provide 175 of boxes of food (sponsored by a restaurant by Mr Mahadevan) to the disabled and abandoned surviving on the streets.
